School Safety

We believe that every student deserves to learn, and every staff member deserves to work, in a safe and secure environment. We call for improvements in state policy to provide school violence prevention programs, resources for staff working to address student behavioral issues, and flexibility to implement safety measures in and around schools.

Talking Points

Ensuring the safety of our students and staff is a vital role for schools. Districts continue to assess and secure schools buildings so every student has a safe and healthy place to learn.

Districts continually look for ways to protect the health and safety of students and staff. Teachers and those who interact with students must have the resources they need to help themselves and the students they serve.

School safety is one of the most important issues in education. School boards routinely review safety plans and work with parents, local public safety officials, and the community to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff.
