It’s all about the students! Student success is at the forefront for every board member in Iowa, and our students are the reason 1,845 volunteers serve on their local school boards.

Join us for IASB's 3rd Annual Summit on Student Success! This year's theme, The Power of Belonging, focuses on the vital role of creating a supportive and connected school environment.

School board members play a key role in fostering a sense of belonging that helps every student feel valued, engaged, and connected, leading to improved attendance and overall success. When the first step to student success is getting to school, this connection is more important than ever. As chronic absenteeism becomes increasingly prevalent in schools, its profound impact on student achievement is clear. Students can’t learn if they aren’t getting to school. This is an issue that schools across Iowa are currently addressing head on.

This June, we’ll examine the impact that attendance has on student success, and go beyond to explore how schools are helping students feel connected, supported, and engaged so they can learn once they walk through the door.

Breakout Sessions

Attendees will choose from five different highly interactive breakout sessions showcasing programs and initiatives that have resulted in student success for Iowa students.

All breakout sessions are designed to:

• Deepen understanding and awareness;
• Give attendees real tools or solutions to leave with;
• Feature concepts, principles, theories, or overarching ideas around topics related to student learning; and
• Provide attendees a concrete plan on how to take these ideas from concept to reality.
