Serving on the Board of Directors 

The Iowa Association of School Boards® is governed by a 17-member Board of Directors, which includes officers and regional directors from nine Director Districts and representatives from Iowa's Area Education Agencies and Community Colleges. Directors serve three-year terms. The IASB President-elect is elected by the Delegate Assembly for a two-year term.

 


 

Candidates Sought to Fill AEA Representative Vacancy 

Area Education Agency board members are being asked to consider applying for an appointment to fill the vacancy of an unexpired term through January 2027. Under the IASB Bylaws, the IASB Board of Directors must appoint a person to serve until the next IASB election process in conjunction with Delegate Assembly in November, when members may elect someone to a new term beginning January 2027. 

Responsibilities: Directors on the IASB Board of Directors are elected for three-year terms and can serve three consecutive full terms. The primary responsibility of the IASB Board is to ensure the association is working to fulfill its vision, mission, and goals. The Board meets a minimum of six times per year
